Law Firm The Smart Inheritance (“the Firm”) is committed to protecting users’ personal information and upholding their rights under the Personal Information Protection Act. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, retain, and safeguard your personal data, and how you can exercise your rights in relation to your information.

Any changes to this policy will be announced via website notices or individual notifications as appropriate.
This policy is effective as of August 1, 2018.

 

1. Purpose of Collecting and Using Personal Information

The Firm collects and uses personal information for the following purposes only. The data will not be used for purposes other than those stated below without prior consent from the user.

Provision of Services: To provide legal services, send invoices, deliver content, and offer customized services.

Consultation: To provide consultations through phone, SMS, online forms, email, messaging apps, and other communication methods.

2. Retention and Use Period of Personal InformationThe Firm retains and uses personal data only for the period agreed upon by the user or as required by relevant laws. Once the purpose of collection has been achieved, the information will be deleted unless required to be stored under applicable laws.3. Rights of Data Subjects and Legal Representatives

Users may exercise the following rights regarding their personal information:

Request to access, correct, delete, or suspend the processing of their personal data at any time.

Such requests may be submitted in writing, via email, or fax in accordance with Article 41(1) of the Enforcement Decree of the Personal Information Protection Act. The Firm will respond promptly.

Rights may also be exercised through a legal representative or authorized agent, in which case a power of attorney form (Form No. 11 of the Act’s Enforcement Rules) must be submitted.

Access and processing suspension requests may be restricted under Articles 35(5) and 37(2) of the Act.

Correction or deletion requests may be denied if another law requires the data to be retained.

The Firm verifies the identity of the requester (or their legal representative) before processing any request.

4. Types of Personal Information Collected

The Firm collects the following types of personal information:

Name, email address, mobile phone number, home phone number, password, service usage records, access logs, cookies, IP address

5. Destruction of Personal Information

The Firm destroys personal information without delay once the purpose of collection has been fulfilled. The process and method are as follows:

Destruction Procedure:
Collected information is moved to a separate database (or stored as physical documents) and retained for a limited period as required by law before being permanently deleted. This information is not used for any other purpose.

Destruction Timeline:
Personal information is destroyed within 5 days of the end of the retention period or within 5 days from the date it is deemed no longer necessary (e.g., after service termination).

Destruction Method:

Electronic files: Permanently deleted using technical methods that make recovery impossible.

Paper documents: Destroyed via shredding or incineration.

6. Use of Cookies and Automatic Collection Tools

The Firm uses cookies to provide customized services by storing and retrieving user data.

A cookie is a small data file sent from the server to the user's web browser and stored on their computer.

Purpose of Cookies: To analyze website visit frequency, usage patterns, preferred content, and secure access to provide personalized services.

Cookie Management: Users can block cookie storage through browser settings:
Tools > Internet Options > Privacy Settings.

Note: Blocking cookies may limit access to some customized services.

8. Security Measures for Personal Information

In accordance with Article 29 of the Personal Information Protection Act, the Firm implements the following technical, administrative, and physical measures to ensure the safety of users’ personal data:

Regular Internal Audits: Conducted quarterly to assess data security and compliance.

Technical Safeguards Against Hacking: Security software is regularly updated and monitored to prevent unauthorized access and data breaches.

Data Encryption: Passwords and sensitive data are encrypted during storage and transmission, with additional security features such as file locks.

Access Control: Access to personal data is strictly managed through user rights assignment, modification, and removal. External access is blocked using firewall systems.
